Hello, my name is Frandy!

I'm a software engineer who enjoys writing clean, concise, and efficent code. I recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. After graduating with my first degree, I made a drastic switch from health care to the tech industry due to my undying passion for software design and development. I later received my second bachelors degree in computer science at Oregon State University.

I genuinely enjoy programming and learning new development skills that make my code user-friendly, efficient, and productive. Although I have just recently made the switch into the tech field, I have learned a tremendous amount through my engineering courses and initiative to self-teach new languages and frameworks. My goal in life is to never stop learning and to challenge myself on a daily basis.

I am a passionate, self-motivated, and determined junior developer.

ELEMENTAL TOWER DEFENSE

Elemental Tower Defense is a modified version of tower defense where the player is capable of placing specialized elemental towers onto the game board. Each tower is based on one of the four elements - earth, fire, water, air - and possesses a special ability or attribute, making the game strategy highly dynamic and exciting when playing through the levels. The player can choose between easy, medium, and hard difficulty and must win by surviving ten waves of enemy units. Each wave is equipped with unique and challenging enemy units that differ by speed, health, and animation. The player has the added ability to upgrade towers where each tower can receive a final upgrade and new final ability.

SPACE SHOOTER

Space Shooter is a Space Invaders inspired game that allows the player to traverse through hundreds (technically an infinite number) of levels that progress in difficulty and speed. Within each level, there are four types of ships ranked easy, medium, hard, and boss. Each ship level contains its own artwork, health, and missile speed. Also, enemy ships drop power-ups for the player to increase ship power and mobility throughout the levels. Once the player successfully destroys the boss at that particular level, the game level will increase, boosting the stats of each enemy ship, making the game fun yet progressively challenging.

BUDGET TRACKER

Budget tracker is an idea I discovered from a Udemy instructor. One of the final projects of the course was to create a budget application that could keep track of a list of incomes and expenses that made budgeting simple, easy, and enjoyable. Budget tracker allows the user to keep a list of incomes and expenses with their corresponding description and prices to help the user remember every detail when budgeting. The application automatically updates the total income made along with the amount the user has spent. In addition, a total budget is calculated that substracts the total income from the total expenses to show the user how much money is left over. One final feature allows users the ability to easily remove items within the list.

SNAKE

This is the first SFML game that I made to test out the capability of the Simple Fast Multimedia Library. The game has a working menu that allows the option of playing or exiting the game. Within the game, the snake can collide with the walls or itself, causing the game to restart. There is also an active score tracker to keep track of your highest score. To make the game more exciting, I added sound effects whenever the snake eats an apple or collides with the wall/itself.
